Bridge St. Bridge

As the existing single-lane steel truss bridge was closed to traffic due to structural concerns, a new two-lane 72m span structure was selected as the replacement. Sierra Bridge safely executed the removal and salvage of the 1912 structure to allow room for the new bridge to be constructed. Temporary cofferdams were installed to allow for foundation work at the bottom of the Nith River which required dewatering through harsh winter conditions. Sierra Bridge persevered through these winter conditions and poured the abutments and piers during the winter months. Following the substructure completion, concrete box girders were installed using a 500t crane and followed up by a deck overlay pour.
